On the afternoon of April 16, 2020, Ms. Malu Dreyer, the governor of the German state of Lahfah, and her delegation visited the PFAFF Industriesysteme und Maschinen GmbH (hereinafter referred to as PFAFF) in Kaiserslautern, a subsidiary of Shang Gong Group. Three directors of PFAFF accompanied the governor and reported PFAFF's mask production and equipment support plan.

The governor expressed appreciation for PFAFF’s approach and emphasized that “under the background of the COVID-19 epidemic, Germany is in urgent need of a large number of masks. PFAFF’s mask production shows that the companies in Rhineland-Palatinate are able to help in difficult times. As a sewing machine manufacturer with a long history and tradition, its decision to enter the field of mask production is its great commitment to social responsibility."

In order to meet the market, especially the European market's demand for sewing machines and welding machines for the production of masks and protective clothing, Michael Kilian, the spokesperson for the board of directors of PFAFF, said that PFAFF has added a second welding machine production line. He also revealed that in the next few weeks, PFAFF will install two fully automatic mask production lines at its two factories in Kaiserslautern and Bensheim and put them into production, with a monthly production capacity of 3 million masks. Governor Malu Dreyer is very satisfied. She said that “in the future, Germany cannot completely rely on the supply of masks from abroad. In order to ensure the necessary independence and flexibility, localized production is essential.”

PFAFF also plans to cooperate with ITSM on a project, with the aim of producing new washable and reusable masks in Germany in a short time. In addition, PFAFF has also begun to produce medical masks to meet the needs of medical staff. The governor was very pleased and said that the state government would provide as much support as possible in material supply, resource allocation, market and sales.

The management of PFAFF also conveyed to the governor the greetings from Mr. Zhang Min, the chairman of Shang Gong Group, and invited Governor Malu Dreyer to visit the Shanghai headquarter in due course. The governor thanked Mr. Zhang for his greetings and gladly accepted the invitation, and asked the company management to convey her best wishes to Mr. Zhang and the Shanghai headquarter.
